Isotretinoin is the active component in Tretizen-20. A retinoid called isotretinoin is also referred to as 13-cis-retinoic acid. Many people’s quality of life has improved thanks to systemic retinoids that contain isotretinoin, including those who want to avoid getting scars. Nearly all acne patients who receive isotretinoin therapy experience complete remission of their condition, and this remission can continue for several months or even years after the course of therapy has ended.
Although the exact mechanism of isotretinoin’s action is unclear, it is known that it significantly reduces the activity of the sebaceous glands. Sebocyte activity and proliferation, or reproduction, are both inhibited by it. Sebocytes are cells found in the sebaceous glands and secrete fatty secretions. Consequently, the size of the sebaceous glands decreases as a result of using isotretinoin, as does the amount of sebum that the sebaceous glands secrete.
Properties and effects of Tretizen-20
The following skin issues can be treated with isotretinoin:
- Acne that is severe (fulminant, conglobate, and nodular)
- Forms of acne that could leave scars
- Acne that does not improve after using oral antibiotics and topical medications.
The treatment of gram-negative folliculitis and facial pyoderma with isotretinoin-containing medications is also very successful. After using topical and systemic antibacterial medications, gram-negative folliculitis frequently appears in acne patients.
